Insomnia is the disturbance of a normal sleep pattern, and it’s estimated that approximately one in four people will suffer from the condition at some point in their life.

Sleep is a state of consciousnesses, which gives a person time to revitalise and build up their strength.

Insomnia can leave you feeling drained and exhausted, which can affect concentration, mood and general well being.

Insomnia can last for days, weeks or even years. Its symptoms can include the following:

  • Un-refreshed after sleep
  • Lack of concentration
  • Headaches
  • Repeatedly waking during the night
  • Unable to get back to sleep

The causes of insomnia can include a snoring partner, too much light in the room, too much noise.  Physical problems such as pain, restless leg, menopause, pregnancy.  Mental health problems including depression or anxiety. Change or worry about things such as bereavement, change in job or personal circumstances, house move.  And finally alcohol, caffeine, smoking and medications can all play a part in disturbing your natural sleep patterns.

The good news is that you could make positive changes to your insomnia using Hypnotherapy.  In fact the word ‘Hypnos’, is Greek for ‘Sleep’.

Hypnotherapy can teach you relaxation techniques that can allow you to drift off easily and naturally.  It could also help you to learn new ways to think when it comes to sleep.  A sufferer of insomnia can often come to dread bedtime.  This leads to all sorts of negative thoughts and associations with sleep which in itself is enough to keep you awake!  Retrain your mind with hypnotherapy that bed equals sleep and you could soon find yourself sleeping like a baby again.
